What is Neurofeedback? A Science-Backed Approach to Brain Optimization

Written by Regina Italiano, MS.

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive, research supported method that helps the brain learn to function more efficiently. At Meridian Neuro, I begin with a qEEG brain map that is a detailed assessment that shows where the brain may be overactive or underactive. This map guides a personalized training program designed to support goals like better focus, improved sleep, emotional regulation, and cognitive performance.

What could it help?

Neurofeedback has shown positive results for a wide range of symptoms, including:

  • focus/attention issues

  • brain fog

  • memory issues

  • mood swings

  • sleep issues

  • stress related conditions

What does a session look like?

During sessions, clients engage with visual and auditory feedback (watching Netflix), while brainwave activity is gently guided toward healthier patterns. Over time, the brain learns to self-regulate, making lasting changes possible.

Who can benefit from neurofeedback?

Clients 6 and up, including students, professionals, athletes, and adults looking to optimize brain function or support mental wellness.

Tips to Get the Most Out of Neurofeedback:

  • Prioritize sleep quality the night before your qEEG and training sessions.

  • Stay hydrated and limit caffeine beforehand.

  • Be open & patient.

  • Eat brain friendly foods.

  • Be consistent- like any training, repetition matters.

If you’re curious how neurofeedback could support your clients or community, I’d love to connect!
