Pamela Gatewood is the owner and sole physical therapist at Changing the Game Physical Therapy, LLC. Pam grew up on a small family farm just outside of Williamsport, PA. Pam gained her Bachelor of Science in Biology at Gannon University in Erie, PA. She then went on to earn her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy also at Gannon University in 2003. After graduating, Pam moved to Colorado, chasing bigger mountains with her husband, Erik Gatewood. Together they immersed themselves in the Colorado lifestyle, finding adventures in white water kayaking, downhill skiing, and mountain biking.
Pam has spent her 17-year PT career in outpatient orthopedics at various private practices. In those years, Pam has expanded her skill set to include (but not limited to) Manual Therapy, Level III Trigger Point Dry Needling, Kinesiotaping Certification, Lymphatic Drainage Cupping Certification through Modern Cupping, and Stott Pilates Rehabilitation Instructor Certification.
After practicing for 17 years, she started to realize that more and more the restrictions of insurances causing limited care. Treating patients by only one body part at a time limits patients’ overall progression and recovery.
After having two children of her own and recovering from a c-section and a VBAC, Pam realized how hard it can be to recover from both types of births. She started to take an interest in pregnancy and postpartum women and their recovery, specifically the return to exercise and sports. Pam earned her Pregnancy and Postpartum Athletic Coaching Certification through Brianna Battles’ program in 2021. She also achieved Sarah Duvall’s Pregnancy and Postpartum Corrective Exercise Specialist training (PCES 2.0) in 2021.
Pam is a continuous learner and loves teaching others how to move their body more efficiently and with less pain. Her goal is not to fix people but to help them understand how to move better and feel better about their bodies through a whole body approach.
